About The Foundation

The R.O.S.E.(Recognizing Opportunities for Service and Education) Foundation is a non-profit community organization whose charitable purpose is to secure resources to positively impact the quality of life for deserving women and their families.Our goal is to empower women in transition to achieve greater economic security and self sufficiency for themselves and their families through initiatives that build self-esteem through education, the arts and self empowerment, build self reliance through economic awareness, financial literacy and health awareness, enhance life skills in the areas of health, family dynamics, and economics, and enhance emotional competence and coping skills.The foundation was established on June 12, 2002. Operations were officially established in September 2003. The educational and charitable endeavors are supported and endorsed by the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, Phi Beta Omega, Chapter.

In the past years, the organization has provided several programs and special initiatives within the community.

Community Appreciation Day - Elmwood Park Zoo
On August 26th, The R.O.S.E. Foundation, in collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, Phi Beta Omega Chapter and Family Promise of Montco, hosted Community Appreciation Day at the Elmwood Park Zoo. This complimentary event allowed families to indulge in fun activities, including carousel rides and feeding the giraffes. Over 50 families benefited from this initiative, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Timed with the onset of the school year, 150 children were gifted backpacks filled with essential school supplies.

Our Scholarships

The R.O.S.E. Foundation has provided tens of thousands of dollars in scholarship money since 2007 to deserving students in the Delaware Valley.

Kirkland-Lyles Scholarship

The Kirkland-Lyles Scholarship is awarded to a student entering their sophomore, junior or senior year at an Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the Fall of 2024 with at least a 2.5 Grade Point Average, on a 4.0 scale. The applicant must reside permanently in Montgomery or Bucks Counties, PA.

Barbara E. Reed Scholarship

The Barbara E. Reed Scholarship is awarded to a high school senior attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in Fall 2024 with a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale who is experiencing financial difficulty based on the Federal Income Guidelines found here. The applicant must reside and attend school in Montgomery or Bucks Counties.

Watson - James Legacy HBCU Scholarship

The Watson - James Legacy HBCU Scholarship is awarded to a public high school student who is matriculating to select HBCUs: Bowie State University, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, Clark-Atlanta University, Hampton University, Morgan State University, North Carolina A&T University, Paine College, Spelman College or Tennessee State University. A student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The applicant must reside and attend school in Montgomery or Bucks Counties.

Robert W. and Irene O. James Community College / Technical Career Scholarship

The Robert W. and Irene O. James Community College / Technical Career Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is matriculating to a community college or technical school. The applicant must have a minimum 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The applicant must reside and attend school in Montgomery or Bucks Counties.

R.O.S.E. Foundation Scholar Scholarship

The R.O.S.E. Foundation Scholar Scholarship is awarded to a student who is a graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.2 grade point average, on a 4.0 scale. The applicant must exemplify exceptional community service involvement and reside in and attend school in Bucks or Montgomery Counties.

Dr. Betty James Robinson Youth Scholarship

The Dr. Betty James Robinson Youth Scholarship is awarded to a high school senior with a minimum 2.7 grade point average on a 4.0 scale who is experiencing financial difficulty based on the Federal Income Guidelines found here. The applicant must reside in and attend school in Bucks or Montgomery Counties.

Claire Morris Lyons Scholarship

The Claire Morris Lyons Scholarship is awarded to a student who is a graduating high school senior who permanently resides in Pennsylvania, and plans to attend Cheyney University of Pennsylvania or currently enrolled at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, with a “C” grade point average between 1.7 and 2.3, on a 4.0 scale.

Second Chance College Scholarship

The Second Chance College Scholarship is awarded to a student that attends school and resides in Bucks or Montgomery Counties, who is at least 21 years of age and currently enrolled in a postsecondary institution i.e. a four year college, community college or technical/vocational school having completed at least one semester while maintaining a minimum 2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Patti Blue Williams HBCU Scholarship

The Patti Blue Williams Scholarship is awarded to a public high school senior attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in Fall 2024. The applicant must reside and attend school in Montgomery, Bucks, or Philadelphia Counties and must be able to provide a valid acceptance letter to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). The applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

2024 Summer Essence: Caribbean Island Glow

On June 8th, The R.O.S.E Foundation hosted our annual fundraiser, The Main Event- Summer Essence.
Our guest enjoyed a tropical night full of vibrant colors, delicious food, wonderful drinks, a cigar lounge,
and so much more. Thank you to everyone who came out. A special thank you to our sponsors. Pink tea
ROSES to the R.O.S.E Foundation chairman, Jay Hall and the event hostesses Selena Price-Kent, Mia
Washington, and Kimberly Giles, along with their committee.
We partnered with the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and donated $2000 to the
